Kazumi Mikami

Born on 27 August 1976 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, she made her racing debut in 1999. Since then, she has competed in numerous racing categories in Japan and overseas, including single-seater series. Throughout her career, she has achieved strong results in a wide range of races and reached a number of significant milestones. In the Super Taikyu Series, she made history as the first female driver to stand on the podium.

Alongside her racing career, she appeared on television and radio programmes and in various magazines, while also working as a driving instructor and appearing as a guest at events. She further expanded her career into modelling, taking on a wide range of opportunities across the media and entertainment industries.

In 2008, she travelled to France to compete in the Historic category of the Rallye Monte-Carlo. Following this experience, she moved on to a new chapter in her career and temporarily stepped away from racing and circuit driving. Splitting her time between Japan and overseas, she went on to run an online French language school and engage in international trade.

In 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, she also dedicated herself to humanitarian efforts. Among her initiatives, she provided free French lessons through her language school to Ukrainians who had sought refuge in France.

After a 15-year hiatus, she returned to racing in 2023. In her first season back, she competed in the Super Taikyu Series, securing two podium finishes and finishing fourth overall in the championship. In 2025, she was honoured with the Best Female Driver Award in the same series.

She continues to compete in the Super Taikyu Series today, constantly challenging herself to reach new heights and push beyond her limits.
